Project Details

Please help and support our RICARDO ISD PE program by fundraising to build an outdoor basketball/volleyball court along with a walking/running trail. Our plan includes basketball rims, outdoor volleyball net and a walk/running trail. If funds become available we will also like to purchase some new equipment to help improve the fitness levels of our students. Both our campuses, elementary and middle school, take turns using the gym and if we had an extra play area that would help benefit our school and program significantly. Our school has no track for the students to walk/run on, so when it rains and floods we have to stay away from that area until it dries up. If we had some kind of walk/run trail this would solve that problem. By donating to our fundraiser you are helping us not only get closer to our goal, but if we meet our goal of $550 by November 21st we are eligible to receive a $5000 or $10000 grant from HEB. As the Middle School PE Teacher at RISD I am asking the community to come together to help out our school. THANK YOU! GO YELLOWJACKETS!!!

Partial Funding Plan

If we don’t reach our funding goal we will continue aiming for our goal to make our PE program enjoyable to our students here at RICARDO ISD.

Chucking Corn Husks!!! Learning about the importance of staying healthy and eating vegetables. The students helped the cafeteria staff chuck the corn husks while they learned why it was important to EAT HEALTHY!!! A lot of the children had never done this before, so it was fun watching them enjoy doing this.
Our students got some hands on experience in farming and ranching today by the Farm Bureau and Ag Extension Office of Jim Wells County. For many of these kids, this was their first exposure to the world of agriculture. They learned among other things, how cows produce milk. And how farmers produce grain, and cotton. There were also lessons on wildlife and water conservation.
Fitness Lesson in PE 🙂 The students stretch their muscles before they being the activity lesson.

Ricardo ISD Annual FUN FEST- Fall Festival (Nov. 14, 2014) Physical Education had a booth at the school festival informing the community about our current project. At our booth the kids also were able to play with the Mini Basketball hoop to win a prize.
Ricardo ISD Math/Science Night PE had a booth on how PE can relate to science in the class room. Coach Alfaro handed out laffy taffy candy and tootsie rolls to demonstrate how a warm candy represents someone who stretches and warms up their muscles. He also gave out candy that had been in the freezer, which represented cold muscles. The warm candy was flexible and easier to work with while the cold candy was hard. Handouts were given out on why it is important to stretch and warm up your muscles.
